Clifton Beach
Surf Life Savers patrol the beach on weekends from the beginning of December to the end of March and on weekdays during the summer school holidays
Other beaches
A large saltwater lagoon is within walking distance and several child friendly beaches only 10 to 15 minutes drive away.
Cremorne
This child friendly beach is 10 minutes drive away and has boat launching facilities
Lauderdale
Lauderdale is 12 minutes away and supermarket items including high quality fruit and veg and deli items are available. There is also petrol, a pharmacy, hairdressers, a butcher’s shop, several restaurants, a tavern with a bottleshop, a bakery, church, newsagent and a post office
Mutton Bird Watching
From about November till March, mutton-birds nest on top of the cliffs at the north end of the beach. A visit to the viewing platform at north Clifton at dusk provides an opportunity to see a huge flock of birds returning to their chicks in burrows after a day out at sea feeding.
Fishing
The area provides some great locations for shore-based fishing. Australian salmon, perch, flathead and wrasse can be caught from Cape Deslacs (northern end of Clifton Beach), Goats Bluff (Betsy Island Lookout), the Pigeon Holes (South Arm), Cremorne Canal or the jetties at South Arm or Opossum Bay.
